Cockroach Infestations in Norwich

Norwich Pest Control can safely deal with large or small cockroach infestations from your home or business premises. We operate in the Norwich area and our pest control operatives cover all of the Norfolk.

The treatment of Cockroaches will be carried out using:

  • Residual: Insecticide water based spray to wall floor junctions/cracks and crevices.
  • Monitors: Placed around the property to locate hot spots where treatment cannot be carried out.
  • Bait points: Insecticide bait placed in around electric boxes cupboards etc.

The chemical, Ficam w, provides a fast knock down action together with residual control that will last for approx 4 weeks.

The length of time it remains active will depend on the nature of the surface and how often it is cleaned.

Once the water-based spray has evaporated and the floor surfaces are completely dry it is perfectly safe to continue as normal, but we would recommend that all food preparation areas be thoroughly cleaned before being used.

Although the knock down action will kill the majority of Cockroaches on contact patience is required to deal with the later emerging Cockroaches and nymphs from inaccessible areas.

Cockroaches will emerge from their hiding places during this time and while moving they will come into contact with the insecticide. Eggs will also be hidden or even carried by some cockroaches and can be very difficult locate at times.

Good Hygiene: is an essential part of controlling any cockroach infestation. Failure to carry out regular cleaning and housekeeping will reduce the effectiveness’ of any treatment/programme.

Cockroaches are nocturnal insects; they are generally active mostly when it's dark. They can adapt quickly to a variety of environments but prefer warm humid conditions found within buildings or damp conditions within drains. There are thousands of species of cockroaches in the world. But there are only 2 main Cockroaches in the UK.

  • German Cockroach - Blattella germanica
  • Oriental Cockroach - Blatta orientalis

Other species of cockroach do appear in the UK but struggle to acclimatise to our weather conditions. Cockroaches feed on all types of food and organic debris.

They can also transport microbes on their bodies including those that are potentially dangerous to humans.

If you're considering treating the pest problem yourself, here are some pointers to bear in mind

  • Our pest control treatments are fit for purpose, and far stronger than any off the shelf treatments. Similar to off the shelf medicines, a prescription drug from your GP would be significantly stronger and more effective
  • Our treatments are effective and affected areas are treated by trained staff
  • Off the shelf treatments will most likely be temporary at best. Hiring a pest control company will save you money in the long term.
